Live Tweeting the Oscar 2022 Red Carpet

To say this has been a dream of mine for a while would be an understatement. When I was growing up, I loved watching YouTube which led to me following everyone on Instagram and Twitter. I have always loved lifestyle influencers, and this felt like the closest I would ever come to that dream. For many years I wanted to start a YouTube channel but was so nervous about what people would think of me and prior to this project I would’ve had the same doubts about live tweeting a major event. I felt like an absolute Rockstar using my Twitter platform in this unique way. For this project we were tasked to live tweet any event while following along with the trends and hashtags from the event.

I grew up with awards season being a major part of my life my mom would always have the awards running on Sunday nights but more important to us was the E Red Carpet. Watching and discussing the nights looks is one of my favorite things to do with my mom and what led me to tweet this event. In order to properly follow along I did research into who all was coming, what they might be wearing, what the hashtag for the night was and I followed E News on Twitter so I could be aware of their thoughts throughout the night.

What did I learn from this?

I honestly learned how difficult it is to live tweet an event prior to live tweeting the Oscar’s red carpet I tried live tweeting the Bachelor and realized I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the show this gave me a newfound appreciation for people who live tweet all the time. I also learned how to engage my audience through different types of tweets. I believe this is the most relevant thing I learned because in any profession I join it is important to create a brand for yourself and be able to engage with prospective clients.

This is the best way I know how to watch the Oscars!

This is the tweet I am the proudest of. It was so cool to get engagement from the E news Twitter page and I believe this demonstrates the importance of hashtags when tweeting a major event!

This tweet didn't age incredibly well thanks to the slap heard around the world.

I loved using retweets with captions as a way to engage with other live tweeters while also sharing my thoughts throughout the event.

Utilizing a poll allowed for not only engagement but I also think it helped my personality shine through in my tweets.

Using mentions allowed me to reach more people that may follow the tagged individual!
